If Azure keeps three copies of your file, can they survive a datacenter outage? Picture those copies on separate drives in one server room. If one drive fails, another copy keeps the data available. That is LRS: Locally Redundant Storage. Azure keeps at least three copies within one physical location in the primary region. They are close together, not spread across locations. So LRS handles local hardware problems. A disk can fail without taking out every copy. But that server room is still a shared boundary. If the physical location loses power or connectivity, the data may still exist, but your application may not access it. LRS is generally lowest-cost when local hardware protection is enough. For facility or regional failures, choose broader redundancy. So, can three LRS copies survive a datacenter outage? No. They protect against hardware failure, not a physical-location or regional outage.
