What does EC2 add if your app already runs on your computer-and what must happen before others can use it? Think of it as a new computer: it needs the right software before your program works. Launching an instance gives you the machine, not a live app. Choose Linux and connect using SSH, a way to control the server remotely. Limit SSH to your own trusted connection, not everyone. Move your app onto the server, install what it needs, and start it. Setup commands depend on its language and framework. EC2 supplies the machine; your app is reachable only after it's running and allowed through the network. In the security group, the rules controlling incoming traffic, allow the web access your app needs. Test its public address from outside the server. So, launch Linux, install and start your app, allow its web traffic, and test the public address.
