Sometimes you can name a picture card, but the Hindi word for it feels like a puzzle. Picture cards at home can help: first, spot the object, then let its two letters speak. These are दो अक्षर वाले शब्द-two-letter words. Look at water. Say ज, then ल. Join them: जल. The picture gives you the meaning, and the joined letters give you the word. Now see fruit. फ, then ल. Together: फल. You knew the picture; now you can read its name. Try the house: घ, then र. Join them slowly: घर. And one more: a tap, न plus ल, makes नल. Each time, use the picture as your clue, but do not stop at guessing. Say the first letter, say the second, and join them into one clear word. Remember: look at the picture, recognize the word, then join two letters and read: जल, फल, घर!
