When does an idea become a startup? Think of a school or work project: it begins as an idea, but building and launching it does not prove success. First, test whether a real problem exists and whether people want your solution. Show an early version, watch what people do, and listen for what they would actually choose-or pay for. Then the goal flips. It is no longer launching something; it is proving that enough people repeatedly choose it. That demand shows the idea can become a business. But growth creates new demands: serving more customers requires reliable delivery, better systems, more people, and money. From there, the path branches. The startup can grow, change direction, settle into a stable business, or stop. There is no ladder. So when does an idea become a startup? When people keep choosing it. Then it must grow, change, mature, or end.
