On exam day, you know the action, but changing the voice makes the sentence confusing. Look at our classroom: Riya writes an answer on the board. From her side: "Riya writes the answer." That is active voice-the subject, or doer, comes first. Riya does the action; the answer receives it-the object. Now spotlight the answer: "The answer is written by Riya." That is passive voice: the object moves into the subject position. Here is the key: voice does not change who did the action. It changes whether the sentence begins with the doer or the receiver. To convert it, move the receiver first, keep the tense, choose the correct form of be, and use the verb's third form: writes becomes is written. Add "by Riya" when the doer matters; leave it out when unknown or unimportant. Whether you begin with Riya or the answer, the classroom action stays the same; only the focus changes.
