Do all ancient Indian traditions follow the Vedas, just because they come from the same broad cultural library? Think of a school library: related textbooks can belong to one subject area while serving different purposes. In this classification, Vaidic means accepting the Vedas as authoritative-a trusted source of religious or philosophical knowledge. Avaidic means not accepting that authority. It does not mean bad, new, or non-Indian. The key difference is not age or geography. Ask: do the Vedas have final authority? The four Vedas are not four separate religions; they are related collections. Rigveda is associated with hymns, Samaveda with melodies and chants, Yajurveda with ritual formulas and instructions, and Atharvaveda with prayers, spells, and everyday concerns. These are broad traditional associations, not strict limits. So, does every ancient Indian tradition follow the Vedas? No. Vaidic traditions accept their authority; avaidic traditions do not.
