If I, We, and You took different places in a class quiz, would that help you remember their grammar groups? Use that as a memory trick, but the places are not the rule. Person tells you who is speaking, who is being spoken to, or who is being talked about. When you say "I," you are the speaker. "We" means you and others speaking together. Both are First Person. When you speak to someone, you use "You." It can mean one person or several, but it is always Second Person. Now think of someone or something being talked about: "he," "she," "it," or "they." These are Third Person. A name, like Rafiq, is also usually Third Person when you talk about that person. Answer: I and We are First Person; You is Second Person; and He, She, It, They, and ordinary names are Third Person.
