You've got seeds in the cupboard, but should you eat them whole, crack them, or soak them? With oatmeal or yogurt, choosing a topping should be easy-but the seed matters. There isn't one way to eat every seed. Match the preparation to the seed. If the package says ready to eat, shelled pumpkin or sunflower seeds can go straight on top. Others have shells or need another preparation, so don't guess. Use seeds sold as food, not unknown seeds, and follow the package directions. Chia softens in liquid, so stir it into oatmeal or yogurt and let it sit. Keep your first bowl simple. If you have a seed allergy, avoid that seed. Next time, choose the preparation that fits your bowl, and add a little to a meal you already enjoy.
