What would happen if all humans disappeared? Imagine your home in a power outage: lights go dark, but the house remains. Now picture that silence everywhere. People vanish; buildings, cars, and machines remain. At first, some systems keep running on backup power or automatic controls. But without people to run or repair them, electricity and water fail at different times in different places. The planet doesn't stop when people vanish. The systems that need us do; nature moves on a slower clock. Without care, rain gets in, roads crack, and plants spread through empty streets. Wildlife returns to some spaces, unevenly, shaped by local conditions. A city doesn't simply vanish when its lights go out. Concrete, stone, and other human-made materials can remain long after the services they supported are gone. Earth keeps going: our powered systems fail, nature reshapes what we built, and some human traces last for ages.
