If-else logic can feel confusing: how does a program know which action to take? Think about rain. Is it raining? If true, take an umbrella; if false, leave it. C uses this yes-or-no pattern. The condition is checked first. True means the if block runs; false means the else block runs. The program chooses one path, not both. For example, in C, set age to twenty. The pattern is: if, open parenthesis, age greater than or equal to eighteen, close parenthesis, then its block; otherwise, the else block. If age is greater than or equal to eighteen, print Eligible; otherwise, print Not eligible. C checks the condition first. Since twenty passes, the if block prints Eligible. With age sixteen, it fails, so the else block prints Not eligible. Remember: one condition, one chosen path-just like the umbrella decision in rain.
