Want shiny gold accents without fancy equipment? Here’s the basic gold foiling method using a lamination heating machine. Step 1: Start with a clean, flat design. This works best when you have a toner-printed area or a heat-activated adhesive made for foiling. Step 2: Cut a piece of gold foil slightly larger than your design. Place the foil on top with the shiny side facing up, then cover everything with a carrier sheet—like a folded piece of paper—to protect the machine and keep the foil from shifting. Step 3: Let the laminator fully warm up. Feed the sandwich in straight, slow, and steady. If coverage is light, run it through one more time. Best practices: keep hands and surfaces oil-free, use firm, even pressure, and peel the foil only after it cools. Avoid: wrinkled foil, feeding at an angle, touching the adhesive area, or overheating—too much heat can smear or dull the shine.
