Why would an art class spend time drawing a bowl of fruit? Put a bowl, a cup, and a piece of fruit together on a table, and they stop being just things sitting there. In art, a still life is a group of arranged objects you study by looking closely, whether you draw them or paint them. Notice how the round bowl compares with the taller cup, how much room lies between them, and where the light makes one side brighter than another. Those small differences are easy to miss when you glance, but they become clear when you take time to look. The goal isn't just to copy the objects. It's to see them more clearly. So why draw fruit? Because a few familiar objects on a table give you a clear, manageable way to practice seeing shape, space, and light.
