Video narration
Did a modern monkey simply become a human? Think about old family photographs. Each generation can look a little different, but changes happen gradually. Evolution means change over many generations. Long ago, ancient human ancestors changed slowly over a very long time. They began walking upright, leaving their hands free. They used tools, their brains developed, and communication improved. Together, these changes shaped human development. But here is the important turn: a monkey did not suddenly become a human. Humans did not come from monkeys living today. Humans and modern apes share ancient ancestors. Ancestors are very old living beings from which later living beings developed. Then humans and modern apes followed different paths over many generations. So, did a modern monkey become a human? No. Humans gradually evolved from ancient ancestors, while modern apes evolved along different paths.
