What simple English sentences can you say about the fish and the frog? On a classroom picture card, begin with the animal you recognize: fish. Then add its color: The fish is orange. Say, "Look at the orange fish." "Look at" tells you which animal to notice. Now add its size: The fish is big. On the next picture, name what you see: frog. Give its color: The frog is green. "Look at the green frog." Then its size: The frog is small. Those sizes describe these pictured animals, not all fish and frogs. Here's the useful pattern: name the animal, say its color, then its size. The animal and describing words change; the pattern stays. So, on a picture card, name the animal, say its color, then its size: fish-orange and big; frog-green and small.
