Video narration
You're at the support desk when a customer says, "I urgently need help with my account." They sound genuine, and you want to start fixing it. But think about a bank teller. Before discussing your account, the teller checks your ID. That pause protects private information. Support is no different. The person asking may not be the account holder. Help them first, and you could reveal information or enable an unauthorised change. Here's the turn: the fastest way to help is not always to start solving the problem. When account access is involved, safe help starts with authentication: confirming who is asking. Authenticate before revealing account-specific information or taking account-specific action. Follow the required standard for the request, and proceed only after it is met. Authentication is not a barrier. Like the teller's ID check, it makes sure help reaches the real customer-and their information stays protected.
