Does your C code run every line, even when you want an action only in a certain situation? Think of rain: if it rains, you take an umbrella. In C, an if statement checks that condition. If it is true, the code inside runs. If false, the code is skipped. For example, if (rain == 1), printf says, "Take umbrella." Here, == compares; = assigns. Remember: true means run, false means skip-just like the umbrella decision.
