In a democracy, it’s normal to disagree. You may not agree with every policy a Prime Minister supports—and you should be free to question, criticize, and debate. In fact, disagreement is the strength of democracy: it keeps leaders accountable and ideas improving. But there’s a line we shouldn’t cross. Criticism targets decisions; abuse targets dignity. When we attack the person or mock the office, we weaken the institutions that protect all of us. In India, respect is part of our culture—and it matters in public life too. The elected Prime Minister’s office isn’t a trophy for a party; it’s a responsibility carried on behalf of the people. So speak up, protest peacefully, demand better. Just do it with facts, with fairness, and with respect—for each other, and for the office that represents our democracy.
