The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow shipping passage linking the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea. Many of the world’s oil and other energy shipments move through this chokepoint on their way to global markets. Because the lane is so tight, any disruption—like conflict, accidents, or restrictions—can slow deliveries. That can ripple out into higher fuel prices, trade delays, and wider geopolitical tension far beyond the region.
