AWS SQS—Amazon Simple Queue Service—is a managed message queue in AWS. Think of it like an inbox between apps. A producer app sends messages into the queue, and a consumer app reads them later and processes them. That separation decouples systems: the producer can keep working even if the consumer is busy or down. SQS also smooths workload spikes by holding messages until they’re handled, then they’re removed.
