Video narration
How does raw metal become a finished bicycle part? Manufacturing is a set of jobs performed on material: changing shape, removing material, connecting parts, creating forms, or improving the result. The key is simple: processes are classified by what they do to material, not just by the tools they use. Forming changes shape without removing material, through rolling or forging. Machining removes material by cutting or grinding, as in turning or drilling. Joining connects separate parts into one unit, with welding or riveting. Casting pours molten material into a mould to create its shape. Powder and additive processes form parts from powder or build them layer by layer. Finishing improves a part's surface, dimensions, or properties through polishing or coating. So how does raw material become a finished product? By choosing the right job-shaping, removing, joining, casting, building, or improving-in the right sequence.
