Does electricity always flow in the same direction? Think about your phone charger: power comes from the wall, travels through the charger, and reaches the phone. It's easy to imagine electricity as one steady kind of flow. But the key difference is direction. AC, or alternating current, repeatedly changes direction. It moves one way, then the other, over and over. DC, or direct current, keeps moving in essentially one direction. That changing direction is the whole distinction. That's why a household wall outlet commonly supplies AC, while a battery commonly supplies DC. Your phone needs suitable DC, so the charger converts the outlet's AC into DC for the phone and its battery. So, does electricity always flow the same way? No. AC reverses direction; DC holds to one direction. Remember the simple rule: outlets provide AC, batteries provide DC.
