Your sentences can be correct but still feel disconnected: you stayed home; you felt unwell. On a rainy commute, one thing leads to another: feeling unwell is the reason, and staying home is the result. Same situation, two directions. BECAUSE points back to the reason: "I stayed at home because I was feeling unwell." It answers, "Why?" SO points forward to the result: "It was raining heavily, so we stayed indoors." It answers, "What happened next?" Same logic. Different direction. Reason alternatives include since, as, simply because, for the reason that, and due to the fact that. More formal result choices include therefore, thus, hence, consequently, and as a result. Punctuation or sentence structure may change, so do not swap them mechanically. Reason gives your thought a WHY. Result gives your thought a WHAT NEXT. Connect thoughts. Build fluency. TAKSH EFFORTLESS ENGLISH. TEMPLATE 23 - BECAUSE & SO.
