Video narration
Picture Paul and Barnabas loading up for a road trip out of Antioch in Syria. The church has sent them, and their first missionary journey begins with planned stops: across Cyprus, then into towns in Galatia, where they announce Jesus to Jews and to Gentiles-people who are not Jewish. At first, the trip looks hopeful. Gentiles believe. But some local leaders turn against them, and the journey changes. In Lystra, Paul is stoned and left for dead. Then he gets up. Paul and Barnabas keep moving to Derbe, then retrace the route, encouraging the believers and appointing local leaders before returning to Antioch. That return matters. This road trip has crossed a cultural boundary: the message about Jesus is taking root among both Jews and Gentiles. Paul's first journey shows that the gospel spread not because the road was easy, but because the messengers kept going.
