Video narration
Look at this boy, writing new words and their meanings in a school notebook. He finds a word, notes its meaning, and keeps everything in order. Now imagine doing that on a much bigger scale for a dictionary, such as the Oxford Dictionary. You would not simply copy words onto pages. You would study the words, explain their meanings, show how they are used, and carefully organize each entry so people can find and understand it. So, what do we call the person who does this work? A lexicographer. That means a person who makes or edits a dictionary-a dictionary maker or editor. It is like your notebook, but with much more careful research and organization. The words are collected, their meanings are prepared, and their real use is recorded clearly. Remember this: the person who prepares and edits a dictionary is a lexicographer.
