Does this viral post prove that the study exists? Look closely: it gives us a caption claiming economists studied Ekta Kapoor's shows, a face, a Harvard University logo, and engagement numbers. Those show what was posted-and how widely it travelled-not whether economists conducted the research. The missing piece is the source: a study title, named authors, date, method, publication, or institutional record. That is the prestige shortcut: seeing Harvard makes a claim feel settled, even when the paper itself is nowhere in view. And here is the flip: a logo or a comparison is not evidence that the study exists, or that it supports the caption. Prof Meenakshi may be wrong, but calling her wrong does not verify the study either. Check the original paper, authors, and institutional records. No: the image alone proves neither that the study exists nor that Harvard University outranks IIM Trichy.
