Does x2 make an equation harder-or just turn it into a multiplication puzzle? x2 means x times x, and factoring reverses multiplication: find the pair hidden inside. For x2 + 5x + 6 = 0, the pair 2 and 3 gives (x + 2)(x + 3) = 0. x2 isn't the obstacle. By the zero-product rule, one factor is zero: x = -2 or x = -3. Factoring solves this, though not every quadratic factors neatly.
