Every 15 August, India celebrates Independence Day. In school courtyards, the tricolor is hoisted high, and children in uniform stand proud and salute. For many years, India lived under British rule, and freedom came only through a long struggle—remembered with fighters, and the quiet strength of Mahatma Gandhi. Then, at midnight on 15 August 1947, the chains broke and a free nation was born. Today, we honor that sacrifice, celebrate our progress, and say with pride: Happy Independence Day!
