Video narration
The phone rings at reception. A guest is calling from their room, asking for housekeeping service. Reception listens, takes in the request, and radios the housekeeping supervisor. That is the first handoff: the guest's call reaches the coworker who can move it forward. Think of it like a shift handover between coworkers: one person passes on what the next person needs to act. The supervisor receives the request, then passes it to a junior housekeeping staff member. At each handoff, the next coworker knows what has come through and who needs help. Now the request has moved, but it has not yet been fulfilled. Passing it along is not the finish. The junior reaches the guest and provides the requested service. Only then has the handoff become help. The guest is happy. A clear shift handover carries the request all the way to the coworker who can help.
