LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. It’s a tiny semiconductor device that turns electricity into light. When you apply power, electric current flows through the diode in one direction. Inside, electrons move in and meet “holes,” which are like missing electrons. When an electron recombines with a hole, it releases energy as a photon—light. Because less energy is wasted as heat, LEDs use less power and last longer than traditional bulbs.
