How do you know when bleeding after birth has become an emergency? Some bleeding is expected, but if a pad is soaked quickly or bleeding stays heavy, don't treat it as just part of recovery. Postpartum hemorrhage, or PPH, means unusually heavy bleeding after childbirth. Feeling faint, dizzy, or weak while bleeding is another warning. And heavy bleeding later after birth still needs urgent assessment; timing doesn't make it safe to ignore. There can be different causes. One common cause is the uterus not tightening enough after birth to slow the bleeding; other problems can also be involved. But you don't need to work out the cause yourself. This is not a wait-and-see situation: prompt treatment can help. So, has it become an emergency? Heavy or ongoing bleeding-or bleeding with faintness or weakness-means get medical help now.
