Does NEP 2020 set a new target for every year? Think of a school timetable: different goals have different due dates. NEP sets milestones, not a year-by-year checklist. By 2025, every child is meant to achieve foundational literacy and numeracy by Grade 3. And at least half of learners in schools and higher education are meant to get exposure to vocational education. By 2030, the aim is school access for all, and a 100% Gross Enrolment Ratio, or GER-the share of the relevant age group enrolled in education-from preschool through secondary school. By 2035, the higher-education GER target is 50%, including vocational education. By 2040, higher-education institutions are expected to work toward becoming multidisciplinary, offering different fields of study. A deadline is not proof a goal was achieved. So, is there a target for every year? No: its milestones are 2025, 2030, 2035 and 2040.
