How does a small Messenger tool reach a reported $1.5 billion valuation? Manychat began in 2015 with a narrow problem: businesses were overwhelmed by Facebook Messenger conversations and needed to repeat answers without repeating the work. It made that automation self-serve. Creators, businesses, and agencies could start free, build their own message flows, and spread the tool through the work they were already doing. Then the turn: Manychat stopped being merely a bot builder and became the easiest way to automate social conversations. As customers wanted more, platform access enabled Instagram automation, turning DMs into a marketing channel. In 2022, public reporting described a $125 million Summit Partners investment at about a $1.5 billion valuation. Funding accelerated a growth engine already working. So how did it grow? It solved one painful channel, made automation easy to try, then expanded through creators, agencies, and Instagram.
