At a routine check-up, if the scale shows a higher number, does that mean you're sick? No. That number is one piece of a bigger health picture. It can't tell you how your body is working or what else is going on. Weight can be linked to a greater chance of some illnesses. It's a risk factor: something that raises the odds, without deciding what happens. The link differs by illness, and health is shaped by many things beyond weight. Other parts of health matter too. A higher risk across a group is not a diagnosis for one person. And it doesn't prove weight alone caused an illness. People at the same weight can have different health. So, no: higher weight can raise the chance of some illnesses, but it can't tell you whether one person is sick or explain the whole cause.
