AI Video Prompts for Explainer Videos

A strong AI video prompt usually includes six parts: audience, topic, goal, source material, tone, and format. When one of these is missing, the video may still generate, but the result is more likely to feel generic.

A reusable structure is: create a video for [audience] that explains [topic] so they can [goal]. Use these points: [source]. Keep the tone [tone]. Make it [duration] in [format].

For a general explainer, focus on one problem and one takeaway. Example: create a 90 second animated explainer for small business owners that explains why cash flow forecasting matters. Start with the problem, show a simple example, and end with three practical takeaways.

This type of prompt works for product education, business topics, startup explainers, and creator content because it gives the AI a clear story shape.

For training, include roles, steps, mistakes, and desired behavior. Example: create a two minute training video for new support agents explaining how to escalate urgent tickets. Include when to escalate, what details to collect, common mistakes, and the final handoff checklist.

Training prompts should be specific. The more specific the source, the more useful the final video will be for employees.

When converting a document or PPT, do not paste unclear material and hope the video will fix it. Summarize the source into sections first. Example: turn this onboarding policy summary into a 90 second animated video for new hires. Cover eligibility, steps, deadlines, and where to ask for help.

For PPTs, include the slide order and the point of each section. The AI does not need to copy every slide; it needs to explain the message clearly.

If the first video is too broad, add a narrower audience and fewer points. If it feels too slow, reduce the duration or ask for a concise recap. If visuals are confusing, specify the type of scenes you want, such as classroom diagrams, process steps, or product walkthrough visuals.
